What is Limner Press?

Limner Press is a full-service letterpress shop in Williamston, Michigan, located about 15 minutes from Lansing.

The shop is owned and operated by Wendy Shaft and Don Bixler. Shaft, an artist who excels as a linoleum carver, is the namesake for the nationally-distributed Wendy Shaft Block Printed Cards and her husband Don is a third-generation letterpress printer.

Limner Press prints custom letterpress printed wedding invitations and personal stationery as well as imprints coasters, napkins, favor boxes and fans.

Shaft and Bixler provide design services, free consultations and offer a wide variety of papers, including recycled, mica coated, Michigan made and 100-percent cotton selections.

Limner Press features an array of machinary, including a 1910 Chandler & Price Co. press with a treadle (8x10), a 1947 C&P motorized press (10x15), a Miehle V50, a Vandercook 15-21 with an adjustable bed, a C&P 30-inch paper cutter and five racks of type drawers.

Wendy Shaft Block Printed Cards are created at the shop and sold locally as well as at locations throughout the country, distributed by Collage Greetings. Every Wendy Shaft greeting card is printed from a set of hand-carved linoleum blocks. Each ink color is printed individually using a letterpress.
