Wendy Shaft, born and raised in mid-Michigan, first went to Alaska to work on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Discovering she was more interested in art than geology, she went back to school, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the California College of Arts and Crafts (now California College of the Arts) with an emphasis on book arts.

While working on her BFA, Wendy met Donald Bixler, a third generation letterpress printer. He suggested that she try letterpress printing with her relief blocks. Their collaboration has resulted in a colorful set of block printed images inspired by nature and Wendy's love of animals.

Wendy Shaft Block Printed Images is the continuing labor of artist and printer and carries on the tradition of letterpress printing. After almost 30 years in Alaska, Wendy and her husband, Don, relocated Limner Press back to Michigan.
